A backyard lazy river?!  Sign me up!  (Although, there must be a hefty price tag to go along with this awesomeness…)

One of the things I’m most excited about our new apartment is the two large decks it comes with, both with great skyline views.  I love eating outdoors, especially since there are only a few months a year you can do so in Chicago.  I can’t wait to move – just 18 more days!  I’m already day dreaming of the dinner parties I can throw there…

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m trying to start actually making some of the hundreds of recipes I’ve pinned over the past few months.  Last week I made this Roasted Red Pepper Chickpea Salad, this Goat Cheese Bean Dip & this Vegan Thai Pizza.

I loved the chickpea salad, although I put it on top of arugula rather than watercress.  I had some for dinner and saved the rest for lunch the next day and it held up well.  I also really liked the goat cheese bean dip, although it’s a time consuming dish.  The thai pizza was great!  I left off the non-dairy cheese (trying to eat less processed foods) and I didn’t miss it at all.  I wish I had also left off the cabbage – I’m not a fan – but otherwise it was fantastic and definitely something I’ll make again.

To be honest, I was more excited to try our new Le Creuset cookware than I was to try the dish…

I just got the pictures back from our Michigan shower over the weekend. It was a fantastic party on a good family friend’s lawn, overlooking a bayou. We had perfect weather and unbelievable decor!

When Bob and I started planning our wedding almost a year ago we initially considered having it on my parent’s beach on Lake Michigan but eventually decided against it for logistical reasons. Anyway, our shower hosts – Luann & Louann – used my ideas for our beach wedding for the shower   – down to every little detail. We got to see what our original idea would have looked like and it was all a surprise to us so it was great fun and quite touching. Here are a few pictures, taken by one of my best friends from high school.

One long, gorgeous table set with succulents, sea glass and peonies overlooking the bayou.

Mason jar glasses and vintage china & napkins.

Bride & groom chairs with a handmade banner and bunting.
